Irish novelist Louise O'Neill's debut novel Only Ever Yours, a dystopian young adult book about a misogynistic society, has already won a number of good reviews after its July 3 release, including praise from bestselling authors Marian Keyes and Jeanette Winterson.
The book, which has been compared to texts ranging from Never Let Me Go and The Handmaid's Tale to Mean Girls, was written after O'Neill returned from a job with ELLE magazine in New York, inspired by her own struggles with eating disorders and the 'cost of perfection' for women in our society.
